STD Testing

Why the importance of regular STD testing?

If you engage in sexual activity of any kind, routine STD (sexually transmitted disease) testing is important, even if you use protection.

It is important to detect STDs through testing, as some STDs may not exhibit any symptoms or indicators. If either party engages in sexual activity with multiple partners, your risk of contracting an STD or STI (sexually transmitted infection) increases considerably. Additionally, the risk goes up if a person engages in risky sexual behaviors like unprotected sex, or if their sexual partner is known to have an STD. The only way to guarantee your health while leading an active and fulfilling sex life is regular and prompt STD testing.

In Singapore, STD testing is no longer taboo or difficult to discuss. When you get an STD test, your doctor will evaluate you based on your medical history and sexual activity. STD testing is a routine checkup that is performed in private, professional, and comfortable medical settings by kind, understanding medical professionals.

Symptoms of STDs and STIs

Although some STDs or STIs may not have any symptoms, various STDs may exhibit distinct symptoms. Additionally, some STDs only show symptoms late in the course of infection. If you are sexually active, STD testing is crucial to identify any underlying issues quickly.

A thorough risk analysis, which includes STD testing, is advised for anyone who suspects that they have an STD. With quick STD testing for early detection available, a vast majority of STDs can be entirely cured.

Process of STD Testing in Quinn

Since every person is unique, it is crucial to be open and honest with your doctor while choosing the best course of action. At Quinn, our doctors believe in conducting our patient tele-consultations in a discrete, nonjudgmental, and open-minded manner.

Before recommending the appropriate STD test, the doctor will begin by evaluating your medical history, risk factors, and background(s).

However, if you prefer to do self-testing for STDs, we also offer STD screening kits based on the tests you would like to do. These will be delivered to you with a simple instruction leaflet included in each kit. Those instructions help you make sure that your self-test is conducted safely, and accurately.

If an STD test requires blood samples, a certified phlebotomist will take your blood at our partner DTAP Express clinic. If you need to give a urine or swab sample, the in-clinic staff will also provide you with the necessary self-test kit.

All results from self-testing will be reviewed by our doctors at Quinn before being sent to you via email. If our doctors believe that follow-up is required, you will be notified via email at the same time.
